Felon in Possession of Firearm & Drug Delivery [Lamar County, TX]

Case Dismissed

Mr. Barry was the subject of a videotaped hand-to-hand drug buy conducted by a snitch. When the arrest warrant was executed at his girlfriend’s home weeks later, the police claimed they found a gun in the home – since he had a felony conviction, this was another felony. He was charged May 13, 2021, in separate indictments for manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance and felon in possession of a firearm.

After reviewing the offense reports and the video, Haslam filed discovery requests for the police policy on bodyworn camera during the execution of search warrants and the complete file on the snitch involved.

Within a week of the filing of these motions, the Lamar County District Attorney dismissed both the weapon and drug charges.
